Molly - Happy Birthday Tristan
It's my son's birthday!!!!!! All in all it was a very representative day of Being Two Years Old. After a rough night and the time change on top of it, we woke up and Paul made waffles for himself and Tristan. I have a picture from probably fall 2023 of Paul making waffles with Tristan in the baby carrier. Now he can run around and point and agitate for waffles all on his own! He skipped his nap and spent most of the mid-late afternoon playing outside, coloring with chalk and digging with his toy dump truck and measuring cups. We had a casual taco dinner and Tristan was a lot more amenable than I was expecting him to be.
The highlight of my day was that he really liked the mini birthday cake I made. It was a low(er) sugar chocolate cake with greek yogurt chocolate frosting and construction vehicle decorations on top. He was so excited when I brought it out, and he soon figured out how to turn the plastic front loader into a fork. He's still so little that he doesn't understand birthdays, but I wanted him to feel special. When I carried the cake in and he ooh'd and pointed, I felt like he understood it was a celebration.
He took a bath with his new ferry toy, cried at his grandparents going home, and conked out after a bit of cuddling. I love him so much.
